Darts is a sport I have always enjoyed and something I have been interested in and playing since I had my first set of Eric Bristow darts for ‘crimbo’ many years ago. Having a dart board up in the bedroom and older brothers to compete against meant it was just like the ‘ally pally’ in there at times. Anyone with brothers will know that having the bragging rights always feels good so as you can guess it taught me to be completive, even the old man tried his luck at times ;).
When I was eventually old enough I retired from giving the family a good thrashing and swapped the bedroom for the pub stage. I currently play for a local pub team in the invitation league and have been making good progress on the board improving my 180 count each season. My biggest achievement to date is probably making the doubles finals on two consecutive occasions but unfortunately failing at the final hurdle. Currently I don’t practice and don’t have a board at home but I’m hoping to concentrate a lot more on my darts when I finish playing football, hopefully practice will make perfect ;)
I have been to Winter Gardens in Blackpool numerous times to watch the World Match play darts tournament and must say if you haven’t been before it’s a brilliant experience. I’ve also been to watch the premier league darts at the Phones 4 u Arena in Manchester which was also awesome.
You never know I could be on that stage one day :)
